Overview of The Energetic or Subtle Body and Chakra System

The following is an overview of The Energy System, Chakra System, Feng Shui, Shamanic Healing, Integrative Reflexology, and Chromotherapy and how they can be integrated to achieve whole health Feng Shui, Shamanic Healing, Chromo therapy (Color Therapy) all work on an energetic level is considered Vibrational Healing . Integrative Reflexology helps promote balance and healing both physically and energetically. Interestingly Energy or Vibrational healing is nothing new. It has been practiced successfully in numerous forms all over the world for thousands of years and only recently has come to the forefront of Western Medicine. Through the study of Quantum Physics we know that everything is energy and that this energy vibrates at different frequencies and flows through and around everything. Scientists are finally developing instruments that are sophisticated enough to measure how this mode of healing works. Most illnesses develop in the emotional , mental or spiritual body long before showing up as physical symptoms. Inside every human being there is a network of nerves and sensory organs that interpenetrates the outside physical world. At the same time within us resides a subtle system of channels and centers of energy (Chakras) that look after our physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being. The subtle body is an energy field which has structure and which gives life to the physical body. There are several interconnected layers which include:
  1. The Spiritual Body – This is the body of consciousness associated with our true spiritual path and direction in life. It has the highest vibration of the Auric Bodies.
  2. The Mental Body – This is the vehicle or expression for the intellect, ideas, and thoughts. The “Self “ manifests and expresses concrete intellect through the mental body.
  3. The Emotional Body – The Emotional body is more fluid and has a higher vibration that the etheric body. The emotional body is know as the “Astral” body and is the seat of our emotions. It is the bridge between the mind and the physical body. This is the part that “jumps out” in times of trauma and shock. The emotional body is also the projection of our longings, moods, feelings, appetites and fears.
  4. The Etheric Body – The Etheric Body is responsible for the transfer of life energy or vitality from the Universal energy field to the physical body. Every cell in the physical body has an enteric counterpart: The Etheric Body furnishes the basic blueprint for the physical body. Every bone, tissue, limb etc has an energetic structure around it and permeating it. The Phantom Limb effect is another example of the etheric body. Even when the limb has been removed, sensations can be felt and can sometimes be painful , itching sensations have also been know to be experienced.
The physical and etheric bodies also contain the meridian and acupuncture points which create a woven structure of energy that helps maintain the health of our physical body. If this flow of energy is disrupted the physical body is affected contributing to illness and disease. The basis of energy medicine is that through the etheric body we can influence the physical body. In order to influence the hardware of the body we need to change the software of the mind so to speak. To create lasting change after blockages are removed and balance is restored we must remain vigilant and be positive, focusing on what we want in our lives rather than what we do not want. Visualize the desired blueprint across the etheric body or LEF ( Luminous Energy Field) Since though has vibration, we must focus on what we want, as well as visualize it strongly. Vague thoughts do not accomplish anything.

The Aura

The aura consists of 7 layers. The outer layers are concerned with the soul and spirit while the inner layers which are closest to the body relate to the mind, emotions and health. Every human being has their own unique Aura which can vary in size and color depending on the state of mind, health and personality. The qualities of colors change throughout our lives and reveals our state of being. The Aura is composed of individual yet interrelated bodies of consciousness and layers of Etheric energy. There are 4 subtle bodies of consciousness that define our personality, perception and direction in life and our souls expression. There are also 7 distinct layers of energy which the aura has that are intimately related to the Chakra System. This is located along the spine. The difference between the auric body is a body consciousness and awareness, while the auric layer is the representation of the chakra interacting with the aura itself. “The Chakra’s are organizing centers for the reception, assimilation and transmission of life energies.” – Anodea Judith PHD. They exist on the Etheric plane and resemble whirling wheels of energy and they each correspond to endocrine glands in the physical body. They interpenetrate one another and each one corresponds to a different color frequency and with a particular organ or gland. The Chakra’s penetrate and enter the body as well as extending outside of the body about 1 to 4 inches. Naturally we are not generally aware of this on a conscious level but the effect on our energy levels can be quite dramatic. Perhaps through the introduction of Kirlian photography and other such methods of observing these fields we will realise their importance. The function of the Chakra’s is to spin and draw in Universal Life Force energy or “Chi” to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance. They contain a number energy “vortices” within. These vortices are like small funnels to carry energy in to the entire body and transmit used or unwanted energy back out of the body. The vortices of a healthy Chakra rotate fairly rapidly however through many reasons of ill health in the chakra they can become damaged causing the rotation to slow down and may actually stop rotating in severe cases. When this occurs the entire chakra will almost close down and in other cases a single vortice may become shriveled or withdrawn back into the chakra. Our energy systems are alive and intelligent . When something is disrupted , blocked or slowed down messages are sent out to the conscious level that something is wrong and we need to address imbalances , blockages and damage. Western Medicine is trained to look specifically at the physical body rather than our energetic body however with the study of Quantum Physics more and more attention is gravitating towards learning more about the energetic body. Shamanic Practitioners as well as Eastern Medicine Practices address the energetic body and have been doing so for thousands of years. Shamanic Practitioners call this energetic body “The Luminous Energy Field” or LEF. According to Dr. Candice Pert Ph.D “Most Psychologists treat the mind as disembodied, a phenomenon with little or no connection to the physical body. Conversely ,physicians treat the body with no regard to the mind or emotions. But the body and mind are not separate, and we cannot treat the one without the other.”

The Root Chakra is associated with the Earth and the color red. The color red is the longest and slowest vibration whereas our Crown Chakra is associated with the Divine which is the shortest and highest vibration. The Root Chakra starts with the ground on which all things rest and the earth from which all things grow and progresses up the spine to the Crown Chakra which connects us to Divine Intelligence and the source of all manifestation. Keeping our energetic bodies healthy and balanced can enhance our ability to heal physically.

The Meridian System

Reflexology has its roots in the Chinese meridian pathways. Both Integrative Reflexology and Color Puncture ( a form of Chromotherapy, color therapy) address imbalances in the meridians. The Chakra system is connected by these delicate, yet intricate web of interconnecting pathways and they function as energy lines similar to a grid pattern all over the body. These energy lines transport “Chi” energy through the body. When a Chakra becomes blocked , through emotional states , negative thinking, improper or impure food, water or chemical substances, there is a lack of energy throughout the entire meridian system. In effect this energy is unable to get past this blockage to heal and create balance in the rest of the body. When this occurs a physical symptom will begin to manifest in the physical body. A meridian can also be out of balance with excessive energy . Meridians exist in pairs and there are 12 principle meridians that correspond to seasons, elements, climate, emotion, sound, taste, color, sense, personality, organs and muscles and time of day. Each meridian is also associated with either Yin ( Negative) or Yang( positive) energy.

Feng Shui

Feng Shui is a design system based on the flow of energy throughout the environment . The primary objective of Feng Shui is to harmonize our home and work environments and align them with the healing forces of nature. The nine Gua’s in the Feng Shui Bagua map correspond with the Chakra system, working with the Chakra’s to enable them to open up to their subtle energy fields allowing them to stay flexible and loose so energy can flow through them. Feng Shui balances Yin (negative ) and Yang( positive) energy as well as working with the Five Elements of Earth, Wood, Water, Fire and Metal in our environments which in turn help us achieve balance energetically and physically.

Shamanism

aura Shamanic healing and energy work addresses the etheric body as well as removing and clearing heavy clogged or blocked energy that can accumulate in and around the Chakra system that can form as a result of physical, emotional, or spiritual trauma.

Chromotherapy

Chromo therapy (Color Therapy) is a form of vibrational healing that was used by the ancients and is gaining recognition once again as a form of energy therapy that is non invasive and makes use of the healing energies contained within the visible rays of color. By creating a balance of color energies specific to the individual color therapy can promote harmony and balance between the body , mind and soul. Color is absorbed by the skin and affects every cell in our bodies. Each color vibrates at a certain frequency and corresponds with the chakra system within our energetic bodies which indecently also correspond to the seven colors of the rainbow. Color Puncture is a treatment that can be used with the Chakra and Meridian systems. Forms of Color Therapy are Light Therapy, Color Acupuncture/ color reflexology, Color related diet, Back Flower remedies,Art and music therapy, Crystal treatments, Color breathing and meditation.
All four practices individually or combined are non invasive, complementary and can help promote healing and wellbeing in our energetic and physical bodies.
